Design Engineer
My client are a leading manufacturer of Medical Devices to the Pharmaceutical Industry.
They are urgently looking to recruit an experienced Design Engineer to be based in their Wiltshire location.
OBJECTIVES OF JOB:
To provide 2D and 3D detail design and prototyping for product development and process engineering, together with draughting support for site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To co-ordinate all drawing and CAE work within design and prototype group.
- To challenge / input into new product design concepts and / or existing products to optimise their design for manufacture
- Detail product and design process engineering/equipment, and quality fixtures/gauges
- Conduct CAE analysis on component designs and propose improvements for optimising design for manufacture
- To maintain drawing systems in accordance with internal procedures and external regulations (Design Control)
- To provide draughting support to the Swindon site.
- To keep the department up to date with the latest software to aid in the optimisation of product design for manufacture and the manufacture of prototype product.
- To use CAD/CAM software and associated hardware for prototype manufacture
TASKS:
- Generation of 3D design concepts
- Model generation and file preparation for rapid prototyping
- Detail design/tolerancing
- Mold flow analysis on component designs
- Site support activities (e.g. Graphics, Artwork, Plant layouts, etc)
- Coordination of CAD/CAM translations
- Control of development and production drawing revisions (engineering change control)
- Coordination of sub-project activities especially related to design and prototyping.
- Keep abreast of CAD technology and developments
- Support other people in their use of the design / prototype software on site.
TRAINING & EDUCATION
- HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Polymer Processing.
EXPERIENCE
- Two-years experience in engineering drawing or 3D modelling
- Proven track record in product or engineering design solutions for manufacture
- Two years experience of rapid prototyping.
- Experience with medical or plastics processing industry, ideally injection moulding.
This role is 8am - 4pm and carries an excellent salary and benefits package
