Health Safety Officer
Health & Safety Officer, Swindon
Purpose of the Role
The key focus of this role is to ensure that Associates at all levels are adhering to the Company's Health and Safety policies, practices and procedures.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager (HSM) the Health & Safety Officer will monitor and record all issues concerning the health, safety and welfare of the clients Associates. The role will include assisting the HSM in identifying areas of improvement in order to support the Company's continuous improvement culture. As well as monitoring of 3S and quality assurance activities.
Main Responsibilities & Duties will include, but is not exhaustive (without prejudice):
· To observe and evaluate all site activities during shifts;
· To report all unsafe practices to the line management on shift and the HSM and ensure that corrective measures are implemented without delay;
· To carry out audits of all work instructions and procedures;
· To evaluate via the audit methodology that training undertaken has been adequately implemented to the Company's working standards and in line with HASAW;
· To ensure all Associates, both permanent and temporary, have received the correct training by checking that the relevant paperwork has been completed correctly;
· To challenge unsafe work practices and ensure corrective action is undertaken;
· To work with and support operational management and associates to resolve issues in an agreed timeframe;
· To ensure follow up checks are made in order to continue appropriate safe methods of working;
· To implement all counter measures identified from accident reports received and oversee their timely implementation;
· Collate and maintain information for accident reporting purposes and process insurance claims;
· To provide assistance, when required, to line management in order to ensure the accurate and thorough reporting of accidents;
· To conduct risk assessments on all new procedures and practices in line with agreed KPI's;
· To devise and implement improved safety measures and practices;
· To monitor current processes and procedures in order to support continuous improvement;
· To monitor all activities and be prepared to ask the question ‘WHY?' in order to ensure H&S compliance across the business.
