I have deep concern as to what challenges we will all be faced with in the coming months and years. I could go on a long discourse here but the issues should be quite self-evident to anyone who looks beyond the surface of things.
As I write this, the collapse of the US dollar is likely only weeks away, today for instance we have reports of countries and markets pulling out from trading with the dollar, and the UN announcing that a new reserve currency must be created to end the dollar supremacy.
There is a lot that can be discussed within this context and how it affects you and me. The collapse of the dollar will have a domino effect on the rest of the World, obviously the UK will also be hit hard. Just take a look around at all the closed shops, businesses and soaring unemployment, this is not going to go away.
The stresses on people and the planet are now at a critical stage. The supply of natural resources is reaching a peak and indeed due to climate pressures, food shortages are becoming more common.
Did you know that during The Irish Potato Famine that around 5 million people died from starvation?
Remember how people used to panic buy during the petrol crisis? That was nothing...
Most of us around today have not lived through The Great Depression so we cannot begin to think what that must have been like. Well lets put things in perspective, not only were there less people around back then, but society had more of a sense of community. Whereas today we have many more people and a thoroughly diseased and schizophrenic society.
My point is that society is very disintegrated and because of that at a cooperative level it is highly inefficient... that's a bit of a problem really considering there is less to go around!
Just stop and think about how useless the average 21st century consumer is at fending for themselves. Such a lifestyle is really just like being in a zoo, people are completely dependant on the hand that feeds for their survival and direction in life. It is no way to live, we have become the willing martyr of our materialistic ego.
The solutions are simple, yet to many simple is not simple because it means surrendering what they had before. I don't claim to have all the answers, nor to be in charge (we are all steering the ship), but I do very much want to be involved in a community effort to discuss, and more importantly act upon the survival pressures we are facing at a local level.
We can come together to discuss and share ideas, skills, tools, trade, barter and most importantly friendship. If you are interested or have any input at all please reply.
Thank You.
