Eden Scott's client is a player in the onshore and offshore renewable energy sector and has played a crucial role in the development and construction of the some of the UK's leading offshore wind farms throughout phases 1, and 2 of the Crown Estate's offshore wind programme. They hope to continue this successful track record on forthcoming Round 3 offshore wind projects.
An opportunity has emerged for a suitably qualified Principal Electrical Engineer with wind energy experience to be based in Surrey and to work on a variety of renewable energy projects spread across different UK sites.
The Role
working within a multi-task project environment with responsibility for all aspects of the design of electrical distribution systems for renewable energy projects from concept through to full design and management of installation and commissioning.
To have regular liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors to resolve potential problems and to ensure that project completion dates are achieved.
To provide technical guidance to other designers and coaching for less experienced engineers.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Chartered Electrical Engineer (MIET).
Substantial experience in the design of electrical power distribution (33 - 132kV) and design of sub-stations to NGET Standards including protection systems.
It is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate at least an awareness of Grid Code Compliance.
Experience gained within wind energy industry either onshore or offshore
It is also desirable that the candidate has experience in one or more of the following:
HVDC Converter systems
Subsea cable specification and installation methodology
Calculation of energy losses within the distribution system.
Ideally from a power utility or consultancy firm background with an internationally recognised HV power capability
Client side experience or project management responsibility where he/she has had responsibility for the management of external suppliers is a major advantage
Knowledge and experience of CDM Health & Safety implementation
Candidates are expected to be highly computer literate and proficient with the suite of Microsoft products and specialist electrical power distribution analysis software.
